Based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Mallon, we explore the love story between Hawk and Tim, set in the 1950s to 1980s, during the height of McCarthyism in the USA. This narrative addresses intense anti-communist political persecution, including the LGBTQIA+ community.
The illustration has very neutral colors, the dark olive green shade is the most used one, I wanted to make a resemble a vintage poster. I work with this composition with the two mean characters that are separated by this tragic event in USA. I chose this scenario in the square where they have their first real conversation, and how their paths always separate but it somehow brings them closer.
